Significance
The synthesis of α-tocopherol (vitamin E) depicted features an organocatalytic domino oxa-Michael-aldol reaction to construct the chromanol ring in D. Seven diaryl prolinol organocatalysts were evaluated with C (30 mol%) giving the highest yield and diastereomeric ratios.
